Akwa Ibom to close down unregistered private schools
The government of Akwa Ibom has sounded a warning intending to close down all unregistered and illegal nursery, primary and secondary private schools across the state.
The state commissioner for Education, Elder Aniekan Akpan, who made this known in Uyo said that owners of such schools should regularise their status within two weeks or face severe action.
He condemned the situation where people would just established educational institutions without due regard for the law and guideline set by the Ministry of Education on proper standard.
He stressed that such unwholesome practice was counter-productive to provision of quality education for upcoming generation who require better and conducive environment as well as qualified teachers for effective teaching and learning.
